ARMY CORPS PLANS PUBLIC AVAILABILITY SESSION IN BENECIA, CALIFORNIA >From 1 pm to 8 pm on Monday, December 15, at the Benecia (California) public library, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public availability session to introduce its Benecia Arsenal Projects to the community. Corps and State representatives will be on hand to answer questions. Over the past year, the former Army base hit the news when both active and inert munitions were found by construction workers preparing land for a residential subdivision. Though the developer hired a firm to clear the ordnance, local residents were able to insist that work be delayed until an Army-sponsored, state-regulated cleanup program had a chance to respond at the site.
