Subject: | Info Request: non-explosive trng. |
Information request: Dick Smith, Citizens for Responsible Fort McCoy Growth, is looking for documentation of bombing and training ranges that have successfully switched to non-explosive training ordnance. Dick does not have email yet, so please send information to him at: Route 4, Box 290A, Sparta, Wisconsin 54656. His phone number is (608)269-2694. Background: Training areas at Wisconsin's Fort McCoy are superimposed on the headwaters of the LaCrosse River, including 7 tributaries -- many of which are Class I trout streams. A couple years ago the Army proposed a buffer zone to protect the river and its tributaries, not surprisingly this has failed and impacts/explosions are still occuring in and around the river, exacerbating erosion, contamination, and sedimentation of these precious waters. Thanks everyone for your help!
