Help Spread the Word: All interested Parties are Invited to the BADCAT ETP 's Open House April 2nd: WHAT: Geokinetic's is demonstrating its electrokientic process for removing metals from soil. In the Geokinetic remediation process an electric field is applied across contaminated soil with low-voltage direct-current electrical power. This field causes the movement of ions such as heavy metals to the electrodes. Fluid is circulated around the electrodes to create the proper conditions for mobilization of metals ions and to extract the metals from the soil. WHEN: Thursday, April 2nd, 1998 9 am to 3pm with formal presentation's at 10 am and 1 pm WHERE: Alameda Point (the former Alameda Naval Air Station) - Building 5 on West Tower Ave. off Ferry Point (take 880 to Oakland then use the Webster/Posey Tube to enter Alameda staying straight in Webster until Atlantic and turn right. To address the barriers and gaps in environmental technology development and commercialization, such as access to sites for field test, reliable cost and performance data, regulatory acceptance, interstate and intrastate data reciprocity, and venture capital funding. 2. To help expedite cleanup, transfer of properties, and economic conversion of Bay Area bases. 3. To stimulate growth of the region's environmental technology industries. PARTNERS: · Bay Area Economic Forum (BAEF) · · Bay Area Regional Technology Alliance (BARTA) · · California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL/EPA) · · Chevron Research and Technology Company · · Engineering Field Activity West, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (EFA West) · · Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC) · · SF State University CAREER/Pro · · U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) · and other technical experts working to expedite clean-up and conversion of Bay Area closing bases through application of new environmental technologies. | |
