A STAKEHOLDERS' FORUM ON NATURAL ATTENUATION

At the end of August, 1998, the Center for Public Environmental Oversight
(AKA SFSU CAREER/PRO) is organizing, in partnership with other
organizations, a two-day national stakeholders' forum on the natural
attenuation of hazardous waste. This forum will present state-of-the-art
research on the technologies of natural attenuation, clarify national
policy issues on the use of natural attenuation as a remedy, and offer
stakeholders from all constituencies the opportunity to offer feedback
on the growing reliance upon natural remedies.

WHEN: Monday-Tuesday, August 31-September1, 1998

WHERE: Westin Hotel, Millbrae, California (adjacent to the San Francisco
airport)

WHO: 300-350 people. Attendees, from across the United States, will
include members of restoration advisory boards, site-specific advisory
boards, and other community stakeholders (including local government
representatives); academia; state, tribal, and federal regulators;
representatives of environmental industry; and government (Defense,
Energy, etc.) and private responsible parties.

A limited number of travel scholarships will be available to help cover
the travel and lodging of public stakeholders from outside the Bay Area.

COST: There is NO fee for this forum.

REGISTRATION: All participants must register, please contact the Center for
Environmental Oversight (CPEO) for registration information. We anticipate
that space will fill quickly. For more detailed information contact:
