Subject: | Mine Sweepers? |
NATO Secretary General Javier Solana announced that NATO will send minesweepers to the Adriatic to neutralize NATO bombs dumped into the sea during air raids on Yugoslavia. After meeting with Italian Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema, Solana said that NATO plans to tighten the rules governing the dumping of bombs and take measures to identify their exact location. D'Alema said, after receiving a "detailed report" from NATO officials, that over 143 bombs have been dumped in the Adriatic Sea by NATO aircraft since the start of the air raids against Yugoslavia on March 24. http://www.stratfor.com/crisis/kosovo/Default.htm Do these mine sweepers just destroy the munitions to avert the explosive risk or are they for removal purposes. Is this technology available for domestic munitions cleanups? Steven Pollack | |
