Subject: | CSWAB at Indian Summer Fest |
PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release For more information, contact: Laura Olah, Executive Director, CSWAB (608)643-3124 CSWAB at Indian Summer Fest MERRIMAC -- CSWAB’s brand new information booth will make its debut at this year's Indian Summer Festival on Sept. 10-12 at Milwaukee's beautiful lakefront Henry Maier Festival Park. This year, the nation's largest American Indian cultural festival celebrates the theme "Two Continents: One People" by focusing on the indigenous peoples of South and Central America as well as those of North America. The environmental area of the festival focuses on preserving the earth and its creatures. CSWAB, a local activist organization that has been working since 1990 to get Badger Army Ammunition Plant cleaned up and restored for conservation, will join more than 50 organizations in the Environmental Education Tent. Other groups participating this year include the Midwest Treaty Network, Mining Impact Coalition, Wisconsin Stewardship Network, and the Wolf Watershed Education Project. Setting Indian Summer apart from Milwaukee's other festivals is Education Day, held this year on Friday, September 10. The grounds are open only to registered student groups for hands-on learning experiences, pow-wow demonstrations and special programs and activities. Thousands of school children from throughout Wisconsin and neighboring states attend the event. * * * -- Citizens for Safe Water Around Badger E12629 Weigand's Bay South Merrimac, WI 53561 phone (608)643-3124 fax (608)643-0005 alt fax (608)643-2682 Email: olah@speagle.com Website: http://www.speagle.com/cswab | |
