[CPEO-MEF] BRAC Cleanup Money Cut

We've just learned that the Military Construction Appropriations
Conference Committee has cut $150 million from the Base Realignment and
Closure environmental account. As has happened before, the Conferees
were apparently looking for money to fund other programs, and it noticed
that the armed services - particularly the Air Force - weren't spending
money as rapidly  on cleanup as on construction.

Depending upon how this cut is allocated, it could have a major impact
on remediation activities at closing bases next year.

As far as we know, the Committee has not yet completed its work.
