[CPEO-MEF] Funding solicitation re Vieques

To all interested parties:

Do believe it's rather presumptuous to request us to shell out for a
shelter to house protesters and for lord knows what else on Vieques.

Would you allow me to explain?

Perhaps one should also take up a collection to assist the RAB members at
MCAS, El Toro and Tustin  and I'm sure RABs all over the country, because
they too have probably had difficulty holding their service branch's feet
to the fire. We've spent literally thousands of hours of our own valuable
time pouring over documents, hundreds of $ for gas, placing long distance
calls, participating in interminable subcommittee meetings ad infinitum or
ad nauseum depending on how you look at it.

We haven't received one red cent from anyone or any entity, but golly it
would really be nice.

The EPA and/or Cal EPA DTSC on the other hand have pumped in millions of $
to assure that restoration and remediation plus the commensurate statutory
compliance issues are  lived up to at our and your AOCs or Areas of Concern.

If any funding is contemplated it ought to be placed into a special account
set up to assist in defraying the considerable research and investigatory
costs EPA has already expended on Vieques and will undoubtedly have to fork
out in the months and years to come.
