This is the same thing that happen here at Aberdeen Proving Grounds with the Perryman water field. Fire fighting training at Phillips Airfield on Aberdeen Proving Grounds had contaminated the ground water and it was being drawn into the local water supply. A filter station was build to clean the water from two of the wells before going to the local treatment plant, the problem was raised again when the water plume was noted to be moving off post and more wells were in danger of being contaminated. It was decided that the best way to treat the water was to treat all the wells before sending it the the local water treatment plant. The design of the treatment plant called for it to be placed outside the boundary of AGP. At first the US Army refused the paid the cost saying it was not a problem to the community. It took the Aberdeen Proving Grounds Superfund Citizen Coalition (APGSCC), Restoration Advisory Board (RAB), and a letter writing campaign to the State officials for action to be taken by the military. This was talked about here at cpeo around a month ago.
