Mullen Jr. Reno Gazette-Journal Thursday September 14th, 2000 NIXON - Residents of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation on Wednesday asked California officials to stop the U.S. Army from continuing its 30-year practice of burning or detonating obsolete munitions upwind of Pyramid Lake. "Toxic particles are picked up and carried to us by the wind," tribal member Debbie Barlese said. "The poisons are in our air, water and earth. I'm a grandmother and I want it stopped to protect my children's health, my grandchildren's health and the health of generations unborn." continued...
