US TO INVESTIGATE TOXIC WASTE CLAIMS QUEZON CITY, (ABS-CBN)

The United States government has agreed to discuss the clean up of toxic 
wastes possibly it possibly left behind in former military installations 
it occupied in the Philippines.

Secretary Domingo Siazon Jr. of the Department of Foreign Affairs said 
Thursday United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright promised to 
send a team to the country to talk about the removal of toxic wastes in 
areas where its military bases once stood.

Siazon and Albright met Wednesday during the Asia-Pacific Economic 
Cooperation meet in Brunei.

"A US team would come in the next few weeks to address the issue of 
toxic waste," Siazon told reporters after his meeting with Albright.

The toxic waste issue involving the sites of the former US bases in the 
Central Luzon region has been a ticklish one in the past few months.
