ISIS, The Institute for Science & Interdisciplinary Studies is pleased=20
to share with you- the agenda for our upcoming event, Federal Facilities=20
Cleanup Workshop: Technical Information. =20
We're very excited about this workshop, to be held July 13, 14, & 15,=20
2001 at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. The main workshop=20
will be preceded by the CITIZENS' FORUM, an event to be held from 9 AM=20
to 5 PM on Friday, July 13th at Amherst College. =20
During the weekend, the various experts involved in federal facilities=20
cleanup (technical-expert, citizen-expert, citizen-scientist and others)=20
will examine technical information needs and the role of citizen=20
participation in the environmental cleanup process at Department of=20
Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE) facilities.=20
The mission of the workshop is to examine the roles of citizens,=20
professional & technical experts, installation representatives,=20
regulators, independent scientists and college professors in active=20
cleanup through improving the understanding of technical topics at=20
Restoration Advisory Board (RAB), Citizen Advisory Board (CAB) and=20
Site-Specific Advisory Board (SSAB) meetings. ISIS will use this=20
information to structure the National Technical Experts Network (NTEN)=20
and make it a useful tool for those involved in cleanup. The event,=20
which is the first of two focus group events, is supported by a grant=20
from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The CITIZENS' FORUM=20
is supported by ISIS and its private donors and funders.=20
=20
The following is the Draft Finalized Agenda for this event. Please=20
contact staff at the ISIS office if you have questions or desire futher=20
