>>From today's Greenwire: DOD: Military finalizing papers for special consideration in environmental laws Natalie M. Henry, Greenwire staff writer The U.S. Navy has confirmed that the military is seeking special consideration from environmental laws for training, military readiness and national security purposes. The request is currently being finalized by the Defense Department and will be released to the public when it is sent to Congress in the near future. Navy spokesman Lt. Doug Spencer said the military is attempting to work on a "fairly short timeline." The issue is not limited to environmental encroachment but overall encroachment on all the armed services.
