[CPEO-MEF] Senate Update on Encraochment Legislation

Last night the Readiness Subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services marked 
up their portion of the Senate Defense Authorization bill.  Not one of the 
six environmental exemptions that DOD is seeking made it into the 
subcommittee's markup.

The entire Senate Defense Authorization bill will be taken up by the full 
Senate Armed Services Committee today at 2:30 PM.  It is possible that 
amendments may still be offered at full committee, however, we have heard 
that the committee is very concerned about the jurisdictional issues this 
legislation poses
