FOR RELEASE ON: 5/15/2002 Contact : Daniel Pickett, (202) 962-3613 <dpickett@icma.org> ICMA Releases Second Edition of Base Reuse Handbook WASHINGTON, D.C.- In light of recent base closure legislation, ICMA?s Military Base Reuse Consortium announces the release of the ICMA Base Reuse Handbook, A Navigational Guide for Local Governments: Second Edition. The ICMA Base Reuse Handbook is a must have for local government officials and others working on, or preparing for, the cleanup and reuse of closed or realigned military facilities. The new handbook is an update to the original reflecting changes in legislation and policy as well as ICMA?s over seven years of research on the reuse of former military installations. Contributing authors to the text include local government officials, federal agency representatives, industry leaders, and other experts in the field of base reuse. The handbook offers a detailed case study on the redevelopment of the Philadelphia Naval Complex as well as appendices with useful information including a directory of Internet-based tools and base reuse Web sites.
