Subject: | [CPEO-MEF] Vertical vs. horizontal well technologies... |
The unending discussions about technologies/methodologies vs. cost effective measures led me to: www.ngwa.org and a very interesting article on horizontal wells used on JFK in theSummer 2001 issue of Horizontal News titled "lessons learned at JFK" (ignore the 'for members only' notation). Aerobic cometabolic biodegradation (developed in the late 1990's by Dr. Perry McCarty at Stanford University who ran pilot scale tests for EPA at Moffett Field in Mountain View, CA as well as used at Savannah River Labs and in Pinellas County, FL) web search showed the capability (and success) to mix cost effective measures (short term vs. long term) with deep concern for the public and environment. I would hope to see this technology utilized at more contaminated sites in the future! Stella ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | |
