Wednesday, September 04, 2002 Copyright © Las Vegas Review-Journal Developers seek delay in Apex project Air quality, safety issues remain By HUBBLE SMITH REVIEW-JOURNAL The North Hills residential project proposed for the Apex industrial area shows how escalating land values and population growth in Las Vegas Valley are driving development in places that were previously considered uninhabitable. The project had been placed on today's agenda for the Clark County Commission, the concept having been previously approved by the planning commission. However, the developer has requested to hold the item until Nov. 20, after the elections. "The overall response to our plans from community leaders, home builders and elected officials is very encouraging," said Adam Titus, chief executive officer of Industrial Properties Development, which owns close to 10,000 acres in the area. "However, because this project is comprehensive and large in scope, we believe it is prudent to take this additional time to properly and thoroughly address specific issues and concerns raised in the Clark County Comprehensive Planning report before we continue our pursuit of approval for these plans." Among the concerns expressed about the development is its proximity to Apex Industrial Park and Nellis Air Force Base.
