[New York] Air Force to pay state for cleaning up dump site Associated Press 11/12/2002 MORRISONVILLE - The U.S. Air Force has agreed to pay the state $1.2 million for cleaning up the former Philmar Electronics site, a newspaper reported Monday. The area was part of a massive cleanup project during the late 1980s and early 1990s. More than 300 drums of jet fuel and other contaminants from Plattsburgh Air Force Base were buried on Philmar property between 1960 and the early 1970s. The 55-gallon drums were eventually removed. However, many had punctured and drained into the ground, causing extensive soil and water contamination.
