[New Jersey] 11/21/02 - Posted 11:43:57 PM from the Daily Record newsroom Contaminated Picatinny site needs cleanup, arsenal says Environmental board to focus on well faulted for polluting ground water By Rob Jennings, Daily Record ROCKAWAY TWP. -- Picatinny Arsenal's environmental restoration board will discuss one of its original contaminated sites -- Building 24, a former dry well and plating facility -- when it meets tonight. The building was torn down about 10 years ago, and the site was capped with soil, Picatinny spokesman Frank Misurelli said. It was closed in 1991. However, a carcinogen that was used as a cleaning agent, trichloroethane, continues to contaminate the ground water and will require an eventual cleanup, Misurelli added.
