Subject: | RE: [CPEO-MEF] Environmental concerns hinder digging training,Marines assert |
So with all the millions of acres of America that the DOD owns, even with some portion of that land being on sensitive habitat, how does that translate to the Army, in the aggregate, not being able find some land on some base where they can train for foxhole digging? It's like the old saying that the best lies are 80% truth. _From the article: These days, that skill is in danger, Marine Corps leaders say, because environmental protections keep troops from getting enough practice after basic training. And A base spokesman said the environmental approval process for digging is so cumbersome that unit commanders may eliminate digging from an exercise. And - without anyone intending it this way - Marines don't get much practice after infantry school. "In my opinion, because of their concern they will violate a law, they tend to avoid digging," said Mike Collier, the civilian director of Camp Pendleton's training resources management division. So the attack on environmentalism is complete. Not that this parcel or that parcel is unsuitable for digging but that because of how cumbersome the issue is we will discontinue it completely to the detriment of our troops and its all the environmentalists fault. Pure propaganda built upon a kernel of truth. Steven Pollack 660 Vernon Ave Glencoe, IL 60022 888-300-8031 www.FamilyJeweler.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | |
