California Two teens face charges in burglary Sheriffs say pair broke into facility, took munitions By BLANCA E. SANCHEZ STAFF WRITER CHINO HILLS— Two 14-year-old boys are headed to court after they were detained by San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department detectives this week for burglary and possession of high explosives. A Chino Hills boy and his Anaheim friend are facing charges connected to the burglary reported this week at the Aerojet general munitions facility in Chino Hills. "They weren't planning anything that we can tell," said Sgt. T.A. Peters of the Chino Hills sheriff's station. "We are talking about 14-year-old boys that think these things are neat. They don't realize the danger they are bringing to their families when they bring this stuff home." The boys face charges for burglary, possession of high explosives and possession of, or receiving stolen property, Peters said. The boys have been released to their parents and are awaiting a court hearing this month, Peters said. Detectives found 38 shells ranging from 20 mm to 75 mm cannon rounds at the home of the Chino Hills boy. The munitions were buried in the back yard of the boy's home in the 3800 block of Bayberry Drive. The burglary was reported Jan. 21 by employees from Blackhawk UXO Services, which has the task of removing military munitions from the former Aerojet munitions site. At the time they reported only one 75 mm military round stolen.
