Wyoming BILLINGS GAZETTE Lead at Thermopolis National Guard armory may be hazard Associated Press December 5, 2003 CHEYENNE - Lead contamination at the Thermopolis National Guard armory's assembly hall and rifle range could be considered a hazard, according to a report. But lead dust was found to be at safe levels in the armory's child resource center, kitchen and lobby, said the report from R. Kent Adamson, an Environmen-tal Protection Agency certified risk assessor. He prepared the report for Western Environmental Services and Testing in Casper. The Casper Star-Tribune obtained the report through a Freedom Of Information Act request. Douglas C. Shope, deputy director of the Wyoming Military Department, said the Wyoming National Guard is conducting similar tests for lead dust in the other 21 armories in the state. The Guard has told pregnant women and some children to limit their use of gymnasiums at armories across the state due to high lead levels found in the Thermopolis facility.
