The move preserves the committee's jurisdiction over the parts of the defense authorization bill that would exempt military ranges from two hazardous waste laws and allow a three-year delay for the military to show compliance with the Clean Air Act. If the bill moves to the House floor with the exemptions, Energy and Commerce Committee members can bring exemptions back for the panel's consideration.
