The federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry reported in February that the former Naval Air Station is safe from contaminants posing a public health risk. Contamination of groundwater, soil, indoor air and fish exists at Alameda Point, but not at a level high enough to be a public health hazard, registry spokesman Scott Mall said at the time the report was published.
