Nathan Bullian worries about his wife and two children. And Kevin Barber thinks back to the trips he took to the water fountain at the old Honeywell plant where he formerly worked at Himes and Waters avenues in north Tampa. The site where circuit boards used to be made for the Defense Department now sits abandoned and is a community eyesore. It also is contaminated with a variety of chemicals, as residents learned at an open house Wednesday at Egypt Lake Elementary School. Many have discovered only recently about the problems at the 17-acre site, which Honeywell occupied from the mid- 1960s to the mid-1980s. Giant poster boards on display at the open house explained what happened to contaminate the site, what has been done to mitigate the problem and what will be done. ? for the entire article, see http://news.tbo.com/news/MGBI4A1D0VD.html -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org ----------------------------------------------------------- Let University of Phoenix make 2004 your year.
