Contaminated water panel to hold forum this week

The Marine Corps fact-finding panel examining Camp Lejeune's drinking
water contamination during the 1980s will hold a two-day public forum
this week in Jacksonville. 

The panel, formed by Marine Commandant Gen. Michael Hagee, will host
speakers from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 a.m. to noon Friday
at Coastal Carolina Community College's Fine Arts Building. 

The panel, which lost an academic research scientist when he resigned
shortly after his appointment, also expects to announce today or
Thursday that a water systems expert will be his replacement, a panel
spokesman said. 

Ronald Packer, panel chairman, and former U.S. congressman from
California, hasn't released the name of Oregon professor Michael Glaze's
replacement, but the new member has run a large municipal water system
and wrote many of California's water system laws in the 1970s, spokesman
Steve Unglesbee said.
