Solvent remediation at former Moore airfield nears takeoff By C. David Gordon Harvard Hillside (MA) June 25, 2004 DEVENS -- The contractor working to clean up chlorinated solvents in groundwater at the former Army airfield has started work on the 100 percent design milestone of the remediation plans. At the June 17, Devens Restoration Advisory Board meeting, contractor Arcadis G&M's project manager, Chuck Castelluccio, presented details of the 60 percent remedial design milestone now completed. The plan as presented has no new elements. Reports of results from the bio-remediation pilot test, in place for over a year now, show continued neutralization of the hazardous chemical, dry cleaning fluid used on parachutes. This remediation process will be repeated in additional transects along the plume of contamination. ... for the entire article, see http://www.harvardhillside.com/Stories/0,1413,108~5342~2234839,00.html -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 278-A Hope St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 <lsiegel@cpeo.org> http://www.cpeo.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CPEO: A DECADE OF SUCCESS.
