City survey says most people not really bothered by jet noise

Most residents who live in noise zones around Oceana Naval Air Station
are not very bothered by loud Navy jets, according to a survey conducted
for the city. 

Only about 17 percent of residents interviewed in the random telephone
survey said jet noise was extremely bothersome, affected their quality
of life or would keep them from buying a home in the same neighborhood. 

Those who live in the highest noise zone, where the roar of jets
averages above 75 decibels, expressed the most concerns. 

Overall, 95 percent of those surveyed said they were satisfied with the
quality of life in their neighborhoods, regardless of jet noise.
