Ammo plant holds acres of possibilities Sarah Mc Cann Star Tribune (MN) November 10, 2004 There are a lot of people with a lot of dreams for the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant land. A 774-acre tract of the site, which is one of largest undeveloped spaces in the metro area, will be transferred from the U.S. Army back to private and civic ownership. "There should be room that everybody can have their little piece they want," Arden Hills Mayor Beverly Aplikowski said. "It'll be a mixed bag of things, and we're hoping everybody will have a little bit they'll be happy about." The former TCAAP site sits on 4 square miles of land, acquired by the federal government in 1941, in northern Arden Hills. The Army has now declared that 774 acres of that, about one-third of the site, is no longer needed because ammunition manufacture ended in the late 1970s. ...
