US Base Oil Leaks Spark Joint Probe By Moon Gwang-lip Korea Times December 9, 2004 Both Korean and U.S. authorities will today launch an investigation into seven cases of oil leakage at Yongsan Garrison, a U.S. military base in Seoul, the Ministry of Environment said Thursday. On Dec. 3, Col Daniel M. Wilson, who is in charge of USFK environmental policy, admitted in an interview with a local newspaper that there had been eight accidents involving the leakage of oil in the base since 1998. The environment ministry then agreed with USFK to jointly investigate seven of the incidents, with the remaining one having already been examined in 2002 after it occurred in Camp Coiner, located in a corner of the U.S. military installation. ...
