MOVE TO BOLSTER FORT CARSON'S STANDING

Plan To Be Introduced To Help Keep Mountain Post Off Base Closure List

THE FUTURE OF FORT CARSON MAY BE A BIT BRIGHTER THANKS TO A PLAN BY A
COLORADO SENATOR AND CONGRESSMAN.

THE PLAN IS TO BLOCK DEVELOPMENT FROM COMING TO CLOSE TO THE MOUNTAIN POST.

RIGHT NOW THERE IS NO EASEMENT PROTECTION AROUND FORT CARSON AND
ENCROACHMENT TO MILITARY INSTALLATIONS IN A FACTOR CONSIDERED BY THE
BASE RE-ALIGNMENT AND CLOSURE COMMISSION.

SENATOR WAYNE ALLARD AND CONGRESSMAN JOEL HEFFLEY WILL HOLD A PRESS
CONFERENCE LATER THIS WEEK TO UNVEIL LEGISLATION THEY WILL INTRODUCE TO
PROTECT A PORTION OF FORT CARSON FROM ENCROACHMENT.
