Fire Damages Decommissioned Aircraft Carrier in S. Phila.by Al Novack KYW News Radio 1060 (PA) January 25, 2005 Philadelphia firefighters -- along with a city fireboat -- were called to the Philadelphia Navy Yard on Tuesday morning to battle a fire aboard the decommissioned super aircraft carrier "USS America." The America, which is three football feilds long and 20 stories high, is docked at the Navy Yard in South Philadelphia, part of the Navy's mothballed fleet. ...
