Bills seek support for state's bases

Sedalia-area lawmakers are sponsoring bills aimed at getting statewide
support to avoid closure of Whiteman Air Force Base and other Missouri
military installations. 

A second provision within the bills would give Knob Noster zoning power
to protect the north end of Whiteman from encroachment. 

Whiteman's future is threatened by the federal Base Realignment and
Closure (BRAC) process, and local governments have banded together to
protect it.
