Monitoring wells installed at Nike site By Franceen Shaughnessy Needham Times March 31, 2005 In an effort to address environmental concerns from neighbors, monitoring wells were recently installed and additional tests were performed at the Nike site by Ridge Hill. Steve Popper, construction manager for the Permanent Public Building Committee, said two monitoring wells were installed in the former silo area of the site. Investigations indicate that there isn't any contamination in the silo area, he said. A Feb. 23 letter from Popper states that the silo area remains a "suitable depository for soils coming from the High School project excavation." Additional testing in the operations area of the site will be performed later in the spring along with the remediation of lead contamination at the former firing range used by the Police Department, the letter states. ...
