Contaminated-well owners may lose bottled water STATE BOARD TO DECIDE SOUTH COUNTY DISPUTE By HongDao Nguyen San Jose Mercury News (CA) May 10, 2005 Hundreds of South County private well owners who have received bottled water from Olin Corp. because of perchlorate contamination could have their supplies nixed. Friday the state Water Resources Control Board issued a draft order stating that only wells that register six parts per billion or more of contamination should receive bottled water. The Regional Water Quality Control Board had required households that registered four or more parts per billion receive bottles of water. About 360 South County wells read four to six parts per billion of the chemical, while nearly 150 wells register readings over six. ...
