China Lake has targeted 10,000 acres for cleanup The Bakersfield Californian May 12, 2005, China Lake Naval Air Warfare Center has had a cleanup program in place since 1980, according to Steve Boster, a spokesman for the naval facility. About 10,000 acres containing 79 different sites are either under cleanup or are scheduled for cleanup. A remedy plan will be in place for all sites by 2015, Boster said. So far, the Navy has spent $82 million on cleanup, with projected future costs pegged at $72 million. ...
