Managing bay's cleanup big test for water board Mike Lee SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE June 29, 2005 Veteran San Diego sport fisherman Frank LoPreste worries about the safety of eating fish from the city's namesake bay and letting his grandchildren play in its waters. Like dozens of other residents, he's trying to influence the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board's tentative decision to force eight agencies and companies into a landmark sediment cleanup plan that covers a slice of San Diego Bay. "They have earned billions of dollars on the bay front without appropriately discarding the toxics that result from ship refurbishing and construction," LoPreste said in a June 9 letter to the board. ...
