Research center plans to pay for water hookups to city line By Hasso Hering Albany Democrat-Herald (OR) July 23, 2005 The Albany Research Center plans to encourage nearby properties to hook up to the city water system if their wells are contaminated with traces of solvents. And it will pay for the hookups. Paul Turner, associate research director at the federal center, 1450 Queen Ave. S.W., said Thursday the government can't force anyone to hook up to city water, but that it would pay for any hookups and for construction of a water main to make hookups possible. Tests in an area to the west of the center across Broadway Street have shown traces of TCE and a similar solvent in eight to 10 wells, Turner said. ...
