Small Arms Range Opens at Bangor By Elaine Helm Kitsap Sun (WA) August 23, 2005 Silverdale -- The Navy opened a new $12 million small arms shooting range Monday in Naval Base Kitsap at Bangor. The 43,500-square-foot indoor facility quadruples the capacity of the Navy's old shooting range at Camp Wesley Harris. Only one of five ranges has been in use at that site, which is listed on the state's register of hazardous sites for lead and chromium contamination from spent ammunition. In addition to four operational ranges, the new facility has state-of-the-art environmental safeguards, including a protective catch system for bullets and an air filtration system. ...
