Study: Sandwich, MMR pose few conflicts By Silene Gordon Upper Cape Codder (MA) September 29, 2005 A study funded by the Department of Defense and conducted in cooperation with the four Upper Cape towns and the Mass. Military Reservation shows that Sandwich has a minimal amount of conflict areas with regard to joint land use issues with the base. With the sound of airplanes serving as an unintentional backdrop, Sharon Rooney of the Cape Cod Commission delivered an update on the joint land use study to Sandwich selectmen last week. "One of the biggest reasons for the study is the unprecedented population growth in the area," said Rooney, noting that Sandwich's growth at 30 percent in recent years is outdone on the Upper Cape only by that of Mashpee, which grew almost 64 percent in the same time. "Our charge was to examine land use and encroachment issues." ...
