Malmstrom boosters look askance at proposed development near base By PETER JOHNSON Great Falls Tribune (MT) December 4, 2005 Supporters of Malmstrom Air Force Base are concerned that retail and residential development in southeast Great Falls could hurt the chances of Malmstrom Air Force Base regaining a flying mission. Wal-Mart is planning a large new store at the corner of 10th Avenue South and 57th Street. There is also talk of other retailers possibly landing nearby, along with more residential development. "I would be concerned if such development infringed on the Accident Potential Zone (APZ) for a new Malmstrom flying mission," said Cynthia Schultz, the Great Falls airport director, speaking as backer of local military development. ...
