Lam in Landing Field Fight BY FLORENCE GILKESON: Southern Pines Pilot (NC) December 4, 2005 What does a big-city lawyer have in common with a group of family farmers and environmentalists in northeastern North Carolina? Attorney Chris Lam says the issues of North Carolina?s natural heritage and natural re-sources are the same across the state. Lam, son of Dr. Douglas and Robyn Lam of Pinehurst, is one of three attorneys assigned by a Charlotte law firm to represent landowners in Washington and Beaufort counties who are fighting the U.S. Navy?s effort to acquire land for an outlying landing field. If the Navy succeeds, the landing field will take more than 30,000 acres of rich farmland, much of which has been in family hands for generations. ...
