Lam in Landing Field Fight

Southern Pines Pilot (NC)
December 4, 2005

What does a big-city lawyer have in common with a group of family
farmers and environmentalists in northeastern North Carolina?

Attorney Chris Lam says the issues of North Carolina?s natural heritage
and natural re-sources are the same across the state.

Lam, son of Dr. Douglas and Robyn Lam of Pinehurst, is one of three
attorneys assigned by a Charlotte law firm to represent landowners in
Washington and Beaufort counties who are fighting the U.S. Navy?s effort
to acquire land for an outlying landing field.

If the Navy succeeds, the landing field will take more than 30,000 acres
of rich farmland, much of which has been in family hands for generations.
