Guard scolded for base lapses By AMANDA LEHMERT Cape Cod Times (MA) December 22, 2005 CAMP EDWARDS - Army National Guard officials were called on the carpet this week for violating environmental regulations at Camp Edwards on the Massachusetts Military Reservation. Local National Guard leaders met with state environmental officials Monday and yesterday about the recent violations. They also discussed what the Guard will do in the future to make sure it is in compliance with state environmental protection regulations and state endangered species laws. The violations occurred during two construction projects to update old firing ranges, during which 6.5 acres of pitch pine and scrub oak trees were clear-cut. And a ban on using lead ammunition at outdoor ranges was violated in October during a Guard training session at which lead bullets were used for target practice. ...
