Duluth wins state grant for Cirrus expansion BY SCOTT THISTLE DULUTH NEWS TRIBUNE (MN) January 7, 2005 The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced Friday it will pay $377,099 toward the costs of cleaning up contaminated soils at the ongoing expansion of Cirrus Design Corp.'s Duluth production facility. Granted to the city of Duluth, the money will cover a portion of the estimated $787,000 in cleanup costs on the 3.91-acre site, according to Heidi Timm-Bijold, an assistant business developer with the city. The grant comes from DEED's Contamination Cleanup Grant Program. Statewide, the department awarded $5.5 million Friday. The site was previously used by the Air Force and the Minnesota Air National Guard. The contamination there includes diesel range organics and volatile organic compounds, according to a DEED press release. ...
