State to pursue Cape cancer studyBy ROBIN LORD Cape Cod Times (MA) February 7, 2006 SANDWICH - An in-depth study of cancer rates in children on the Upper Cape will be launched in the coming weeks after state health officials found elevated rates of the disease in the southeastern section of Sandwich. Researchers looking at data between 1995 and 2002, and between 2003 and 2005, found 17 cases of childhood cancers townwide. But five of those cases between 1995 and 2002 were in children living in what is known as census tract 0135 - an area of town bounded to the west by Quaker Meetinghouse Road, to the north by Route 6 and to the south and west by the Mashpee and Barnstable town lines. ...
