Fireworks out at Williston fieldBy DAVID BERGENGREN Springfield Republican (MA) April 11, 2006 EASTHAMPTON - Citing concerns about potential contamination of the city's water supply, The Williston Northampton School notified the local Kiwanis Club yesterday it will no longer be able to hold its annual Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza at the school's Galbraith Field. The move effectively ends a tradition that dates back to 1973 and typically draws 15,000 to 20,000 spectators each year to the fireworks show, the club's largest annual fundraiser, though Kiwanis officials said they would continue to seek a new site for the event. For this year, however, services by vendors for the event have already been canceled and there will be no show, they said. ...
