$1M in EPA grants to benefit island soil Contaminated Tiyan land to get some help By Tammy Anderson Pacific Sunday News(GU) May 14, 2006 Two Guam agencies were awarded a total of $1 million in grants to clean up former industrial properties of contaminants so they can be developed. The Brownfield grants are part of the $70 million that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded to states and territories this year to help transform former sites into productive community assets. "Today's grants will help speed the cleanup and redevelopment of properties, providing jobs and helping revitalize neighborhoods," said Wayne Nastri, administrator of the U.S. EPA's Pacific Southwest Region, in the press release. The A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport Authority will receive $600,000 to clean up former military property now known as Tiyan. ...
