U.S. House passes Hanford budgetBy Annette Cary Tri City Herald (WA) May 25, 2006 The U.S. House passed a Hanford budget for fiscal year 2007 of about $1.8 billion Wednesday night as part of the energy and water spending bill. The Senate has not scheduled action on its Fiscal Year 2007 Energy and Water Appropriations bill, which then will be reconciled with the House bill to set the final budget. "While a final budget won't be written for several months, I'm encouraged by increases in many areas including ground water cleanup, alternate tank waste treatment testing and PNNL," (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), said Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., in a statement. However, money for Hanford's vitrification plant was reduced from the Bush administration's request of $690 million to $600 million. ...
