Historic building given to Methodist Medical CenterBy BOB FOWLER Knoxville News Sentinel (TN) June 21, 2006 OAK RIDGE - A building that played a groundbreaking role in the nation's first nuclear medicine research program was given to Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge on Tuesday. The former Oak Ridge Institute for Nuclear Studies at 140 Vance Road is next to the main hospital. It will eventually be torn down to help the landlocked medical facility expand its outpatient and diagnostic services. A monument noting the property's historical significance will be erected on site, hospital officials said. The U.S. Department of Energy, owner of the building, declared the property as surplus and offered it to the hospital. ...
