EPA continuing monitoring of Deep Creek contaminationKjerstin Ramsing KXLY TV-4 (Spokane, WA) July 12, 2006 SPOKANE -- Rocket fuel from a former Cold War Army missile site continues to worry some families west of Reardan both for threats to their health as well as to their property values. At a recent community meeting Deep Creek residents feared their properties would decrease in value because of the potential health risks from the chemicals TCE, NDMA and perchlorate found in some well water. Those chemicals were associated with rocket fuel that was used on Cold War-era Nike Surface-to-Air Missiles that were based at the Fairchild Nike Battery 87 which was operated by the US Army between 1958 and 1966. ...
